JAWS OF LIFE I'm caught up in the jaws of life What can heal can also tear you up inside Writing down your own anthem (Write in an anthem) You don't like the older one (You don't like the old one) I would stand at attention (I would stand at minimum) For less than minimum Wage your own forgotten wars (Waging your own wars) Trade honor for canker sores (Trading your honor) Ghostly pride with matching tours (Ghostly pride) You're childish without the joy I know that I said I would change I know that I haven't changed A shoulder to lean on and embrace I'm barely breathing with My status day to day I'm caught off guard By innocence I cross my heart Your influences pull you down I swear it's not The fault of mine Or of the fault of anyone So tell me what the guilt feels like Are you swallowed in your jaws of life? When you strip people down You'll see how They don't need their cover Is it clear and defined (I could tell you) When fists from a simple conflict rise (I could tell you) When we turn into monsters (Things to shock you) We thought were once extinct

NOT ONE LIGHT RED
A MODIFIED DOCUMENT

MODIFIED is an art and performance space in Phoenix, Arizona. It's goal is to bring together artists of all forms under one roof in a city that has not yet learned how to support or truly appreciate the arts. Modified has been host to everything from visual arts, film, theater, performance art and poetry to jazz, classical, avant garde experimentalism, goth and industrial music. What you'll find at Modified most of the time, however, is a young and exciting indie rock scene. In the last two years, the indie scene in Phoenix has virtually exploded; there are a great number of bands that play at Modified--as well as all over the city-that have proven over and over again the strength and depth of the talent in this city. The only ingredient missing from our scene, in comparison to others around the country, is exposure. Hopefully with this compilation, we can bring this scene just that. This is one more step in our attempt to bring more attention to the bands that have already found a home at Modified, but deserve the attention of the entire country.

THanks to Kimber Lanning, all the bands in Phoenix-both on the comp and not, Sergio Aguirre, Jill Betterly, Lisa Williamson, Brent Bond, Kimber Lanning & Stinkweeds, Steve LeFever, Daniel Sylvester, Dan Hargest, Mike Hissong, Anish Adalja, Walter at Imprint, and all the volunteers at Modified past, present, and future.
